The New Album
During the Covid-19 Loockdown – Shane used the time to record his new “Irish” album ‘Born From Tradition”Read about the new album here.

Shane Ó Fearghail’s new album is a pearl waiting to be discovered. A moment of calm reflection for the times we live in. Born From Tradition is the manifesto of an extremely authentic artist.” Adrian Coleașă – Midnight Burst (Romania).

Shane’s music background was born out of sing alongs and sessions at home in Dublin. And having worked internationally in the Animation industry for over ten years,  Shane played small shows and “Trad Sessions”, writing songs and singing wherever he traveled. Head hunted by labels big and small, this Dubliner was destined to follow his own independent path.  With four albums to his name (See Music – click here)Born From Tradition”, Shane’s new release, is an exclusive Irish Folk album in the ballad tradition. Written in English and Irish, recorded and released during lockdown, it takes Shane back home – metaphorically speaking. ‘Born From Tradition’ has been nominated for “Best Album Award” at the CeltCast Fantasy Awards in the Netherlands. ‘Ná Bí Buartha’, one of the album tracks, has also been nominated in the “Best Song” catergory.

Shane is in active in the Dublin and Vienna songwriting scene. He is co-founder of Schottenfest and recently won best songwriter award at the Sofia Singer Songwriting Festival in Bulgaria. As a successful live solo performer Shane also tours with his band “The Host”. “The Host” are an eclectic group of musicians who come from Austria. Namely, Claudia Heidegger (Fiddle, Mandolin), Emily Velasquez (Bass, Keys), Johnny Falter (Banjo, Guitar), and David Butschek (Percussion); together they bring sweet rhythms to Shane’s rhyme. All singers and incredible players, Shane Ó Fearghail & The Host have a fantastic and exciting contemporary Irish – Appalachian folk roots feel. Interlaced with that sweet European twist, they are up tempo, crowd engaging and full of soul. It is when listening to this band live however, that you get to taste that full sweet flavour.

Shane Ó Fearghail & The Host are one of those bands that grabs you from the first minute and won’t let them go.  A wonderful live band!” Harald Neger – Donauinselfest / We Serve You Better
